Insight in to business analytic job profile 


Profession of a data analyst revolves around analyzing big data and come out with meaningful insights that help client businesses.
On any day, the work being done in an analytical firm can be easily depicted using the DIPP framework. DIPP can be expanded to the following:

  1. Descriptive: work requires deep diving into the client data and give out a detailed report on the asked actionables by the client:
    e.g. Client ran a marketing campaign and wants to know the effectiveness of its various marketing portals

  2. Inquisitive: requires analyzing data to find out the reason behind a particular issue the client is facing
    e.g. Client is retail giant & wants to know the main reasons behind the frequent stock-outs happening in the stores

  3. Prescriptive: requires using data to come up with actionable insights that can provide relief to the client problem.
    e.g. An analysis which shows that products which are cheap & easy to carry are the ones that should be kept as C-Stock as they are store best sellers
  4. Predictive: requires using different statistical technique to generate forecasted value of any historical trend


Apart from this, other important components of a typical day in the field of analytics are:
  • Client interactions
  • Brain Storming sessions
  • Result presentations

Analytics is one of the hottest present day field to work in. Having the advantage of being in its growing stage, career in this field is exciting and promising with a steep curve of growth.
